Today we’ve got a tiny amount of time to compare two well-known vocal mics (and throw in a curveball as well).
Comparing a Neumann U87Ai (£1900), an sE Electronics Gemini II (£900) and an MXL V67i (£170).
The cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” was hastily thrown together, since the mics used in the next few videos were on hire and time was limited to make repeatable results.
The 3 mics were placed as close together as possible with the capsules aligned to be the same distance and angle from the vocal performance.
