Micing Heavy Guitars…. WITH AN SDC??!?!?!?

I wanted to demo using an SM57 compared to using a second mic to augment the tone without the need for extra EQ to pop out of a busy mix.
In this video, I use the sE Electronics sE5 Small Diaphragm Condenser to make the guitar sound a bit thicker, thumpier and somehow more detailed at the high end.

The track behind is quite simple, but is mostly to demonstrate context of the guitars in a mix. It’s not supposed to be a magnum opus.

Setup for this:-
Les Paul w/ Bare Knuckle Juggernauts
Apogee Jam + iPad for tracking
Radial Reamp Box
Keeley Tubescreamer
Peavey 6505+
Zilla Fatboy 2×12

HOW TO ROCK is a series by me, Adam Steel, at the Hop Pole Studios in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester, England.
